It all starts with an eye exam!
Patient Coordinators answer the phones, schedule appointments, relay messages to the physicians and respond accordingly. Patient Coordinators also welcome our patients to the office as they arrive for their appointment, and at the end of the appointment, they make sure all details for billing purposes are in place.
Technicians greet each patient at the beginning of an appointment and gather new and pertinent information for the doctor to review. There are several vision tests that may, or may not, be done depending on the reason for the exam. The technicians will also follow you through the exam with the doctor.
Many of our technicians are Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, COA. These individuals have followed a training program specializing in the needs of ophthalmic offices and their patients.
Each physician has a surgery scheduler to schedule their patients’ surgeries. If your care includes surgery your physician will inform you of the name of his or her surgery scheduler.
Opticians work in the optical dispensary fitting you with glasses. All of ProMedica Physicians Vision Associates’ opticians are state licensed.
