It all starts with an eye exam!
Oculoplastic Surgery and reconstructive surgery is a sub-specialty of Ophthalmology involving disorders of the eyelids, eye socket, and tear drainage system.
Michael Abowd, MD and Rodney McCarthy, MD are fellowship-trained oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeons. They provide patients with a wide range of medical and surgical treatments for poorly positioned or drooped eyelids, eyelid and eye socket tumors, tearing problems and tear drain disorders, as well as other disorders such as thyroid eye disease.
Dr. Abowd and Dr. McCarthy handle complex eyelid cancer reconstruction and repair of injuries involving the eyelids and surrounding tissues. They often collaborate with colleagues in dermatology, otolaryngology (ENT), and plastic surgery.
