Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery is a sub-specialty of Ophthalmology involving disorders of the eyelids, eye socket and tear drainage system.
Dr. Abowd and Dr. McCarthy have received additional fellowship training in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery and provide patients with a wide range of medical and surgical treatments for poorly positioned or drooped eyelids, eyelid and eye socket tumors, tearing problems and tear drain disorders, as well as other disorders such as thyroid eye disease. Dr. Abowd and Dr. McCarthy handle complex eyelid cancer reconstruction and eyelid trauma and eye socket fracture repair. They often collaborate with colleagues in dermatology, otolaryngology (ENT), plastic surgery and neurosurgery.
